If you’re wondering where to find the
best Margarita on Amelia Island, here
is your answer. But, Mezcal, Spirit
of Oaxaca is so much more. Pablo’s
Mexican Cuisine (on Second Street) will soon be moving to 302 Centre Street as Mezcal,
Spirit of Oaxaca. Check out Pablo’s until June 2023—then look for Mezcal at the new
location. The spirit of the place is evident in every little touch throughout. This is the
essence of a family-owned business. Fernando Madrigal (owner) and his wife, Irma, are
both natives of Mexico City. Fernando moved to Queens, NY in 1987, and has worked
in restaurants the entire time. He has done every job in a restaurant. In 2007, the family
moved from Queens to Amelia Island, where they opened their own restaurant. Every
family member is in someway involved at Mezcal/Pablo’s. For instance Clara (oldest
sister) is one of their floor managers, and Luis (brother in-law) is the kitchen manager.
There will always be a Madrigal or two running around somewhere in the restaurant!
Katherine Madrigal began as a hostess and busser, and has advanced to the General
Manager position. She was new to the island, and found that some of her customers
became her first friends here. “The island has been extremely kind to us, and we’ve met
many incredible individuals through the years, who enjoy our food, and with whom we
share friendships.”
